This study was conducted in order to compare the shear bond strength of two different systems by using bovine enamel. Materials and Methods: Thirty freshly extracted anterior mandibular intact bovine teeth were randomly divided into two groups. Feldespatic Porcelain discs were attached to the enamel by Panavia F2 resin Cement and Filtek Flow flowable composite according to the manufacture’s instruction. The bonded specimens were immersed in 37oC water for 30 days and then thermocycled at 5oC and 55oC for 500 cycles. Samples were subjected to shear bond strength test. The modes of failure were determined under stereo microscope. Group differences were statistically analyzed by using the student-t test. Results: The mean bonding strength in Panavia F2 group was 24.26(±8.2) mega paschal (Mpa), and 17.25 (± 8.1) Mpa, in Filtek Flow group. The statistical analysis showed significant difference between the two groups (P<0.005). Mode of failure in the first group was mainly cohesive and adhesive in the second one. Conclusion: This study revealed that the shear bond strength of dual cure Panavia F2 resin cement is considerably higher than that of light cure Filtek Flow flowable composite. Key words: Shear bond strength - Porcelain veneer - Flowable composite - Resin cement - Bovine enamel Corresponding Author: Prosthodontics Dept., Faculty of Dentistry, Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. e.mail: [email protected]

Shear bond strength of composite resin to porcelain.
This study evaluated the effect of porcelain surface treatment on the shear bond strength of composite resin to various porcelains and porcelain combinations. A variety of feldspathic porcelains with low and medium alumina content were tested. Porcelain/composite resin samples were stored in 37 degrees C water, thermocycled 1,000 times, and tested in shear. A 3-minute etching using hydrofluoric...
full textEffect of surface treatment on the shear bond strength of a resin-based cement to porcelain.
The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of different surface treatments on the shear bond strength of a resin-based cement to porcelain. Sixty pairs of 50% aluminous porcelain discs were fabricated. In each pair, one disc measured 6 mm in diameter X 3 mm thickness (A) and the other measured 3 mm in diameter X 3mm thickness (B). The specimens were randomly assigned to 6 gro...
full textComparison of the Effect of Three methods of Porcelain Surface Treatment on Shear Bond Strength of Composite to Porcelain
Background and Aim: Several methods are available for intraoral repair of chipped porcelain restorations by composite resin. Also, there is still controversy regarding the best method of porcelain repair in terms of bond strength and cost effectiveness. This study aimed to compare three methods of porcelain surface treatment on shear bond strength (SBS) of composite to porcelain. Materials a...

full textEffect of silane activation on shear bond strength of fiber-reinforced composite post to resin cement
PURPOSE Among the surface treatment methods suggested to enhance the adhesion of resin cement to fiber-reinforced composite posts, conflicting results have been obtained with silanization. In this study, the effects of silanization, heat activation after silanization, on the bond strength between fiber-reinforced composite post and resin cement were determined. MATERIALS AND METHODS Six group...
